“For the first time in Canada’s history, a summons for racial discrimination [has] come up before the courts”. The Joint Labor Committee for Human Rights of Toronto and Lakeshore Labor Council sent out 2 Black men and a Chinese-Canadian girl (Ruth Lor) to a restaurant where they were denied service.
